WHERE TO STAY DURING NEW YORK FASHION WEEK - THE GANSEVOORT

Are you planning a trip to NYC for Fashion Week?

I know that there are SO many moving parts + unknowns when it comes to planning everything out, so I am here to help you decide where to stay. In my opinion, finding the right accommodations is just as important as planning your outfits. For my 5th time attending NYFW, I treated myself to a staycation at the gorgeous 5 star luxury hotel, the Gansevoort. With insane rooftop view, a newly remodeled rooftop bar + pool area, luxuriously soft beds, the onsite Glam + Go spa, and the gourmet restaurant The Chester right on site, it’s hard to get motivated to leave this place and explore the city.

LOCATION

If you are in town New York Fashion Week, it is so important to stay somewhere central to all the action. This season, I made the Gansevoort my home base and it was honestly the best decision I could have made. Located in the historic Meatpacking district, the street-style photo ops are everywhere, which made shooting content so convenient. The Gansevoort is also walking distance to Chelsea Piers, which is the venue for several fashion shows such as the Oxford Shows, Indonesian Diversity, Fashion Palette and more. This season, the hotel hosted the Maybelline NYFW afterparty, so there is a good chance one of the events on your itinerary may be hosted right in your hotel! Talk about cutting down on commuting time. In addition to being walkable, getting an Uber from this location is a breeze. #NoCancelations. I am such a foodie when I travel, and we were steps from the most incredible indulgences. Directly across the street, we had Catch + Restoration Hardware Rooftop Restaurant + Serafina + Bagatelle. If you go around the block, you will run into iconic Pastis (which just re-opened and is a MUST if you like French fare.) Another delicious restaurant option just steps from the hotel is Dos Caminos. If you have a sweet tooth, you can walk a few block down to Insomnia Cookies, which has the most incredible cookie + ice cream sandwiches! As you can tell, proximity to the best food is important to me and the Gansevoort is the BEST in regards to location. As if all of these options weren’t enough, the Chelsea Market is 5 minutes away, and Sephora is directly across the street just incase you have a makeup crisis.

THE ROOM

This hotel knocks it out of the park when it comes to the design of the room. Room 606 has a lovely 6th floor birdseye view of the historic Meatpacking district. Our oversized window was designed as a cute little nook (complete with a cozy couch!) to sit in and enjoy the view. I loved how the windows actually cranked open, and were sound proof so that when we went to sleep at night, we could hardly hear anything going on outside (and let me tell you, NYC is LOUD!). Right near the window stands a vanity with tons of light which created the best space to get ready for the day. On top of the little luxuries I've mentioned, the Gansevoort nailed the basics. From the delicious in-room espresso machine, to the L’Occitane toiletries, to the insanely luxurious bed, we felt completely spoiled. I got some of the best sleep I have had in a LONG time in this bed. It is SO comfortable, it was hard to make myself get out of it in the AM for my hair appointments. OH! And the Gansevoort staff had my initials embroidered on the pillowcases… talk about the royal treatment!! Click HERE to book your stay.

THE CHESTER

Although I mentioned all of the amazing surrounding restaurants, the best one is right on the ground floor terrace. We enjoyed several meals the The Chester, which serves mainly French fare. I tried the chicken skewers + green beans, and WOW they are some of the best I have ever had (and I’ve been to Paris a few times!). I highly recommend literally everything on their desert menu as well. Aside from the food, the whole atmosphere at the Chester is lovely. I really enjoyed our time spent cozy patio booths. They were covered in butterfly print upholstery with plants everywhere which made for a nice getaway in the city. You can also host an event here, and they will create a menu tailored to your soirée. If you choose not to stay at the Gansevoort, you should definitely have a meal at the Chester.

THE ROOFTOP POOL + BAR + VIEW

The rooftop of the Gansevoort has the most breathtaking city view. We absolutely loved coming up to watch the sunset. We ordered Moscow Mules from the newly renovated bar and went out to enjoy the view. I need to know STAT who designed this space, because I NEED to have them design my future house.

THE STAFF

The main thing I always remember about a hotel is their hospitality. The Gansevoort staff is outstanding, and each and every one of them went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying our stay. I will never forget the room service teams hospitality. We called down to see if breakfast was still being served, and they offered to bring it up to us instead of having us come down to the restaurant. About a minute after getting off the phone, we hear a knock at our door and the staff had custom made a fruit plate + yogurt bowls since they had actually stopped serving breakfast and were out of the standard breakfast items. This really made our day, and made us feel important, which I will never forget. It’s sweet things like this that make my soul happy. I highly recommend staying here just to meet the staff, because they are that amazing.

This blog post was made in collaboration with the Gansevoort Hotel and all my opinions are my own.
