5 REASONS TO STAY AT THE ESTANCIA, LA JOLLA

If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably saw my story spam while I stayed at the Estancia. This gorgeous hotel is full of charm and made us feel like we were away on holiday in Spain. At check in, we were greeted by the sweetest staff and a complimentary bottle of red wine. There were pups everywhere (this hotel is pet friendly) and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. From the decadent dining experience at their multiple on-site restaurants to the 5 star spa, we felt perfectly pampered. I am so thrilled to tell you all about my sun drenched San Diego sunshine staycation!

PERFECT LOCATION

Located at 9700 N Torrey Pines Rd, La Jolla, CA 92037, this stunning hotel + resort sits nestled between USCD and the beautiful Blacks Beach. I love how the Estancia is only 20 minutes North of downtown San Diego + 20 minutes South of Encinitas, which are2 of my favorite places to visit. Trust me though, you won’t want to leave the grounds at the Estancia.

2. SIP + SAVOR WEST COAST FLAVORS

The Estancia has 2 beautiful restaurants on their grounds. The Adobe El Resataunte is open for breakfast, and Mustangs + Burros is open for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is served until 11am, and we seriously enjoyed our meal. I ordered the Farmers Benedict which has Quinoa Vegetable Patty, Lacinato Kale, Poached Eggs, Roasted Pepper Crema. SO GOOD! My boyfriend ordered the breakfast buffet, and loved his meal as well. Once the afternoon rolls around, head over to Mustangs + Burros and grab yourself the truffle fries + Brussels sprouts! You will not be disappointed. The Estancia hosts events throughout the year, and we happened to be there during their Tequila night! This included a full taco bar, endless tequila tastings, and Spanish deserts. In addition to tequila, you can also check out the Trintas Cellars wine bar, which has a wide variety of wines made in Napa Valley. They also have local craft beer, plus cocktails artfully created with house-made bitters and Estancia La Jolla’s own private label Single Barrel Jack Daniel’s.

3. A HACIENDA STYLE HAVEN

The grounds of the Estancia are expansive, yet cozy. From the beautiful fountain in the courtyard to the grand Spanish staircase, the photo opportunities are endless. (I totally understand why everyone wants to get married here!) I loved all of the palm trees + cactus placed through the landscaping! Only in San Diego can you have a cactus 3 feet from a dreamy king palm.

4. DREAMY CABANA + POOL

One of the spaces that drew us to the Estancia was the beautiful pool + cabana area. We enjoyed laying in the chaises while catching some rays. The bartender was extremely attentive, and walked around the area taking drink + food orders, which I thought was a nice touch to the afternoon. Since this is a very family friendly hotel, be prepared for the pool to be full of kiddos.

5. SENSATIONAL SPA

Hidden away within 10 acres of tranquil gardens, The Spa at Estancia is a retreat located inside the resort. This 7000 square foot sanctuary was named “Best Spa” by San Diego Magazine and I can definitely see why. Our stay included 2 spa day passes, and we thoroughly enjoyed pampering ourselves. The spa is split off into a mens and women’s area, allowing it to be clothing optional. (if you are there with your babe, there is a coed lounging area in between the separate spaces for you to meet up). Upon arriving to the spa, we were given a tour and assigned a locker. I enjoyed the eucalyptus steam room + saltwater whirlpool! After I finished soaking, I headed to the outdoor relaxation area complete with a grand fireplace, meditation garden, and reflexology installation. In addition to 24hr access to the common ares of the spa, treatments are available for purchase as well. You can book massages, facials, body skincare, nail services, and waxing. If you happen to be around on a Sunday, be sure to take advantage of the yoga!
